Ever since our beginning on Pentecost Sunday, 1990, Woodlawn Chapel has been a congregation where faith is combined with gifts of energy, intelligence, imagination, and love. Our congregation has become a vital center of mission and outreach, a place where members, friends, and newcomers always know that “whoever you are, or are not, wherever you are from or wherever you are going, you are welcomed here.”

On Pentecost Sunday, 2025, we believe we are once more invited to hear God call us to new paths of imagination regarding our 35-year old building and the ways it can be retooled for mission and fellowship.

Currently, our Women’s Bible Study and Adult Education Classes meet in crowded and cramped rooms. Both groups can no longer safely accommodate their flourishing attendance. Even worse, the two rooms have a narrow design which makes it navigating the space impossible for those requiring mobility assistance. The Bible Study Room also provides a space for many other functions–including serving as a “pre-funeral” gathering space for families. Its worn, outdated, and broken furniture does not convey a feeling of welcome.

With your help, we can expand the Bible Study room to create a new “Gathering Space” that will better accommodate our needs, while also providing a reception space for guests and other small meetings. Remodeling is expected to cost about $15,000, plus an additional $5,000 for furnishings. Gifts are being received now through Pentecost Sunday, June 8, and may be designated in honor or memory of loved ones.

Gifts may be mailed to the church, earmarked for “Imagine Pentecost Campaign.”

Come with us, as we await the Spirit’s leading Woodlawn Chapel in new and imaginative ways!
