Woodlawn Chapel youth will participate in the annual “Souper Bowl of Caring” effort to tackle hunger in our community on February 3, 2019.
Donations of cash and nonperishable food items such as canned meats, cereals, and jelly are especially needed. Cash donations will be shared with Woodlawn Chapel’s Coupon Club, which purchases food for local food pantries. Food items will be donated to Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services in support of their foster care programs.
Souper Bowl of Caring is dedicated to tackling all of the issues that exist in your communities, including poverty, hunger and homelessness. Youth groups across the country take up a collection of food or money in the weeks leading up to or on Super Bowl Sunday. They give 100% of their donation directly to the local hunger-relief charity of their choice.
The international effort was started by a church youth group in 1990. It now collects more than $130 million for local community efforts to end hunger.
