LEADERSHIP
As a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation, Woodlawn Chapel shares in the Reformed theological tradition in electing officers to serve the congregation as elders and deacons. Both men and women are eligible to serve in all offices of church ministry. Elders share leadership with Ministers of the Word and Sacrament as part of the Session, and represent the church as part of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy. The Board of Deacons share in the church’s’ ministry of compassion and service. The Session meets on the 4th Sunday of the month. The pastor of the church also known as the Minister of Word and Sacrament serves as moderator of the Session and as a responsibility of the church’s governance seeks always to discern the mind of Christ and to build up Christ’s body through devotion, debate, and decision.
